Wheel of Life Full Moon Meditation - Taurus Sun / Scorpio Moon – 1st May 2026

The full moon link-up is offered as a way of connecting with other ‘inner pilgrims’. You are invited to join in at 12 noon on this date - Meditation is a personal journey, which unfolds in our unique ways. As we attune together at 12 pm we can make our prayers more powerful with a common focus. Runwell Holy Well (The Megalithic Portal)

Dear Gatekeepers,

Welcome to our Lunar Beltane Full Moon Meditation on Friday 1st of May. The ancient cross quarter festival of Beltane marks the cusp of spring and summer. This month we have two full moons, the second on the 31st is known as a Blue Moon. We also have our annual event of Sound in the Land on Sunday 3rd May, see below for details.

Our full moon meditation is in the constellation of Scorpio in the east of England on the British Landscape Zodiac, lying roughly between Felixstowe to the north and Folkestone to the south. Here we pilgrimage to The Holy Well of Runwell, in Essex. The name Runwell has been interpreted in modern times as running well, or always full, however run, refers to a 'secret', 'mystery' or place of 'secret council'(Oxford English Dictionary of Place -names) and the name of the village Runwell seems to have been taken from the holy well. Local legend has it that in the Sixth Century AD, Christian missionaries Lucus and Lucilus visited Essex and finding the holy well venerated by non-Christians, built a chapel, and rededicated the well to “Our Lady St Mary.”

The floor of this chapel had a unique designed cross, with black flint and red strawberry stone, to show the teachings of the tenets of the Christian faith. To protect this and collect subsequent devotional gifts, a nunnery of six members was developed around the site. They tended to the shrine, well head and the statue of Our Lady, to which many miracles were attributed, attracting pilgrims from far and wide. The nunnery is thought to have been dissolved during the Reformation in the 16th Century and there is little evidence of it now.

There is also belief that the well’s dedication indicates a Christianisation of the Iceni goddess Epona. This is supported by horseshoe-shaped motifs found nearby, and the approach to the well, supposedly, being haunted by a horse.

Here we join Charlotte in the sun sign of Taurus the builder asking us to quest for support, friendship and affiliation to a common vision, what some call our ‘dream team’ of Scorpio moon and Taurus sun.

FULL MOON MEDITATION AND ATTUNEMENT

TAURUS the builder asks us to quest for support, friendship and affiliation to a common vision, what some call our ‘dream team’. With the reflective sign of Scorpio providing a concerted intuitive response, this informs us of the transactive chemistry of friendship and commonly shared vision, which brings renewal of heart, good listening and optimism. Shared vision also stimulates new growth and transformations of our original vision through the support group synergy. The ‘ideal’ of pure Pythagorean mathematical formulae can then become ‘real’ in terms of a meeting place of devotion and restoration.

The quest for us is how can we imitate our ancestors’ skills in revealing, capturing or creating ‘sacred space’, shapes that have a geometry of harmonious proportion that trigger our most intimate intuitive appreciation of sacred space?

As the moon reflects our quest, we follow our curiosity down the ages to discover how sacred space was celebrated and used to build civilisations of distant past.

The Megalithic Sciences:
Our mysterious past has no explanation as to how sacred space was displayed in carvings. A shared appreciation of artistry and symmetry that emerges from the hard rock is a shared resonance within our sensory system. A sacred space is triggered that is born from a shared and communicated conscious pleasure. This in turn over centuries contributes to our modern builders of sacred spaces. It seems to be the ‘emergence’ of a latent spirit within us which moves us to recreate sacred space in many different ways.

Herodutus - He in turn is given a sacred space in human memory, through a stone carving of his appearance. Through this we ‘tune into’ what he offered to posterity as his personal ‘sacred space’ in human form. His thoughts underpinned many future philosophical thinkers. ‘A contagion of sacred space’ communicated and acknowledged which inspired future sacred space builders into our present century.

Sacred Space and the Renaissance: "The Renaissance was above all things a revival of Cicero, and only after him and through him of the rest of Classical antiquity.

The caste of the artificers included the Masons, as amongst its most important members, and these, congregated in vast cities like Memphis and Thebes, acquire knowledge of the craft which has never been surpassed by any architects either ancient or modern.

The priests who received the illustrious Greek traveller were able to point to a history, carefully recorded, stretching back for ages into the remote past; to a monarchy of many dynasties, which was preceded by a Theocracy probably coeval with Egyptian civilisation.

Recent research has not only confirmed the statement of the wise and observant Herodotus, but it justifies us in throwing back the origin of Egyptian civilisation to a period so remote that the mention of it here would merely excite useless controversy.

PENDLE HILL AND THE PAGAN RELIGION OF NATURE

We are now specialists and scientifically informed natural medicine users, with new findings coming our way daily. Our own bodies are our first building blocks of conscious growth and illumination. Here is where we generate connection with our inner creative self and ‘cosmic’ link to divine love wisdom. It is where we first explore how to be builders of sacred inner space.

‘In his autobiography, George Fox said he had a vision on Pendle Hill in 1652, during the early years of the Quakers:

As we travelled, we came near a very great hill, called Pendle Hill, and I was moved of the Lord to go up to the top of it; which I did with difficulty, it was so very steep and high. When I was come to the top, I saw the sea bordering upon Lancashire. From the top of this hill the Lord let me see in what places he had a great people to be gathered.’

‘Pendle Hill, located in Lancashire, England, is a famous 557-metre (1,827 ft) hill known for its steep walking trails, panoramic views, and historical association with the 1612 witch trials. As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Burnley and Clitheroe, it offers popular walking routes, particularly from Barley village, and is known for its steep ascent and boggy terrain.’

THE SACRED WITHIN NATURE: a historical reframing of sacred space:

The traditions polarised witchcraft from the industrial revolution. The focus on natural building blocks of Nature (e.g. modern ‘natural health’ or ‘‘green magic,’ involving using herbs, crystals and personal energy balance etc) was hunted and persecuted at Pendle Hill.

This practice was outlawed in favour of technology and other medicinal practices.

Near Worston is Sawley Abbey. This was a Cistercian monastery founded in 1147 or 48 by William De Percy. This building has been extensively altered in its lifetime, from its founding to its closure at the dissolution of the monasteries. Sawley Abbey was continually in conflict with the nearby Whalley Abbey. Whalley was much younger, having been founded in 1296 by monks moving from Stanlaw Abbey in Cheshire…… Holy wells were very fashionable in mediaeval England and served as a draw for pilgrims to the abbeys.

After the Dissolution of the Monasteries the stones were reused in building local villages. Pendle also gave rise to many reformers in the Industrial Revolution:

Wiki: The Cistercians in Yorkshire stood at the forefront of several technological innovations. They were amongst the first to have tanning and fulling-mills, and one of the earliest water-driven hammer forges was built at Kirkstall Abbey.

They have been regarded as the ‘engines of ingenuity’ https://engines.egr.uh.edu/episode/. Under St Bernard they achieved their spiritual goals by ‘setting up an economic independence based on the highest technology of the day’. By the ‘12th century the Cistercians had reached the cutting edge of hydro-power and agricultural technology.’ At Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire, their hospital quarters straddling the flowing river nearby.

The spiritual life was about building sacred space and aligning with natural forces and learning useful as well as artistic skills.

Over centuries the effects of colour, light and sound were memorised and passed down as special alchemical knowledge. This only changed in King Henry VIII's reign.

Our current technology has advanced our educational media with subtle diagrams illustrating the progressive built-up of sacred sanctuaries over 2000 years on the same site. This insight into the ‘sacred space builders’ of our current evolution is now giving us deeper connections with Megalithic structures.

Our sense of time is beginning to adjust as more evidence is revealed. On a recent video we are shown how the pre-Roman world of London has been discussed and portrayed only briefly as eye witness accounts. Although more detailed evidence exists, a purposeful decision was made to conceal the findings from public publication.

Excavations carried out during postwar restoration uncovered foundations, crypt chambers, and structural remains from earlier churches and Roman-era London.
Post war clearance team report eye witness accounts 2 metres below Roman remains under St Paul’s Cathedral on Ludgate Hill the highest point in the city of London.

‘What they found at 6 m was cut and dressed in a way that the lead archaeologist on site described in notes that survive in a colleague's private memoir as belonging to no identified phase of construction in the site's documented history. 90 cm blocks mechanically regular facing arranged in courses suggesting a structure of considerable scale below the Roman layer.’

Worded as described by eye witness accounts: ‘Large stones discovered compared with global ancient sanctuary site blocks, such as Peruvian walls, pre-dynastic Egyptian temples, such as Balbeck in Lebanon, temple platforms built with similar precision to other specific sites around the world… a structure of considerable scale under Roman remains…’

We can therefore assume these represent a powerful religious structure, which could have been set up and pre-named ‘Caer Troia’ by King Brutus the Trojan. Brutus is said to have landed at Totnes where the Brutus Stone is celebrated in the High Street.

IN THE BRITISH ZODIAC

Taurus holds Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool, the centres of the industrial revolution, a theme of cultural building once the abbeys of Cistercian Bernard of Clairveaux had been dissolved, and the modern world began forming.

The Minerva Shrine: TAURUS represents the aesthetic pleasure of the arts, sacred arts and healing effects, so that carvings and sacred buildings could hold and transmit those qualities. Minerva is commonly depicted as tall with an athletic and muscular build. She is often wearing armour and carrying a spear. As an important Roman goddess, she is highly revered, honoured, and respected.[4] Marcus Terentius Varro considered her to be ideal and the plan for the universe personified.

The ‘plan of the industrial revolution, therefore, is driven by ‘the ideal and plan for the universe’ as envisaged by the Romans: ‘The railways changed England, and the world. Perhaps more than any other invention in history.’

‘The Industrial Revolution (c. 1760–1840) was a pivotal transition from manual labour to machine-based manufacturing, beginning in Britain. Driven by steam power, coal, and factory systems, it transformed economies, accelerated urbanisation, and revolutionised transportation, though it created harsh working conditions and widespread social changes.’

Our quest develops: what sort of ‘container’ do we envisage as ou contribution to human evo.ution? The ‘potteries’ were making household containers that expressed beauty and elegance… everyday beauty that is also functional.

Boundaries that a guardian/protective constructs to allow ‘synthesis’ of sound and colour healing/transformation of consciousness……. Sensory receptors are likewise influenced, once the ‘building’ is fully formed such as a cathedral with colour, light and stone walls, pillars etc.

How close are we to building harmonic houses in our ‘new age’? We might have continuous healing effects in our surroundings, with colour and vibration built in to soothe and heal. These living spaces would support the evolution of NEURODIVERSITY within all humans eventually. ‘Altered States’ of consciousness will be acknowledged more and more, as will be the connections we build with our natural environment, inviting collaborative building practices that are automatically healing spaces.

BUILDING SACRED SPACE THROUGH THE ARTS, MUSIC AND POTTERY, GARDENING AND CHILDREN’S ECO-EDUCATION: Taureans do not want to make noise—they want to make meaning. The right artistic outlet won’t overstimulate or overwhelm. It will feel like home. And in our experience, nothing delivers that better than clay. Your senses get fed. Your energy gets grounded.
