Take a sacred walk through hidden London with me. A pilgrimage through the fascinating city landscape of London.
Join us on this pilgrimage through the fascinating city landscape of the players of London. A walking route that is as joyful and entertaining as well as inspirational. We will walk from The Globe on the Southbank through to Canonbury Tower in Islington.
We will walk the same journey as many of the actors of London, use the potential of pilgrimage and walking, to embrace the awakening and to know your dedications you want to make at this solar festival of Imbolc.
This is a sacred walk in preparation for the solar Festival of Imbolc. The Festival of Imbolc or the Festival of Dedication (February 1st) celebrates that shift point from the season of winter into the season of spring. We see nature begin to reveal its next phase, with the arrival of green shoots emerging from the soil.
We in turn, responding to natures wheel, are offered the opportunity to reveal ourselves and our desires at this time in the form of dedications. These dedications are a reaffirmation of our dedication to service of the greater good and more personal dedications to what it is we want to work with, manifest and create within our lives. It is time to set down a marker for the year around which we can focus our growth and show our commitment to where we want to go. Once commitments are made, then the all else can flow in supporting those aims.
In the latter part of winter’s season, we have been invited to consider what it is we want and to form those clear intentions into what we reveal of ourselves now and publicly state. Like Persephone returning from the underworld, this is our moment to be seen and heard and to see that shift in ourselves from our winter inner work to the spring and the beginnings of a new period of growth.
These dedications also mark a final point of realisation and release. In knowing where we are going or committing to this journey, then we can see what we carry that no longer serves us. This is the moment when we embark on “spring cleaning” like the tradition suggests, we work on ourselves to clean and cleanse all that we are and only take forward that which will really serve us.
London-based landscape designer Jeremy Rye will be leading guided tours of the four London walks that were known to Kings and Queens since the beginning of the monarchy in England.
These spiritual walks were undertaken by the monarchs and the landscape keepers of the time. They would journey at specific points in their reign, at certain times of the year or for the marking of events. These were not only a means of navigating a city but seen as instrumental in maintaining its health, spiritual and commercial success.
Unlike a typical history tour, this is an opportunity for participants to mirror these spiritual journeys, in part to strengthen our sense of self, answer questions we have and to transform. They are an ideal companion to other self-reflection practices such as journaling, therapy or meditation.
Jeremy Rye is a practicing landscape architect who integrates history and spirituality in his work.
There will be seven stops made along the way where Jeremy will both point out historic architectural features, their history and their connection to a spiritual question. Participants are invited to use these stops not only to listen but find answers for themselves.
The walk will take on average 3 hours with a break and is not wheelchair accessible.
The walk will take part no matter the weather and tickets are non-refundable.
