Hello from Derbyshire and the High Peak area .
Welcome in autumn with a wonderful ramble round this characterful NE Derbyshire village. Ashover has some unique features both natural and man-made including the Fabrick (illustrated) which is situated on the edge of a volcanic vent, an example of neolithic rock art and other evidence of past industries in the landscape.
There's also a Robin Hood connection and other stories arising out of the spirit of the place. We hope to be joined by some members of the Sheffield Steiner Group en route who will explain a bit about their group and its purpose and the significance Derbyshire has for them.
Theres ample opportunity to share poetry ,prose and creative thoughts as we venture along.
This walk of some 3 and a half miles includes steep slopes, road walking, muddy paths and steps. Good walking boots, sticks and some light snacks are recommended. Toilet facilities are available on Moor Road opposite the village Post Office /Community Cafe 'Stamp' and there are pubs which serve drinks and food.
The walk starts 10.30am from the Ashover Parish Hall centre car park on Milken Lane.
Please contact Vicky on 07956 015879 to let her know you are coming along.
