Celebrating Scorpio in the Landscape Zodiac

16/11/2021

Gatekeeper Wheel of Life Pilgrimage 2021
Tuesday 16th November

At this Scorpio point of the year, we will pilgrimage to Little Maplestead Church, one of only five remaining round churches in England, modelled on the Holy Sepulchre at Jerusalem. Dedicated to St John the Baptist, it was the church of a Commandery of Knights Hospitaller. Sited NE of Temple Church in London, it represents symbolically the cornerstone associated in ritual with the Knights Templar higher degrees.

At the kind invitation of Emma Stewart-Smith we will spend the afternoon at Stanley Hall, a moated Elizabethan manor house oriented to align with the solstices, and set in an enchanting garden and deer-haunted grounds. This is where Peter Dawkins, founder of the Francis Bacon Research Trust, and co-founder of Gatekeeper, led festival celebrations and Shakespeare seminars in the 1980s.
