Dear Gatekeepers

Welcome to our full moon meditation on the 7th October. This full moon will be the first of 3 supermoons taking us up to the December full moon. Supermoons appear brighter and larger as they are closer to the earth.

On our monthly full moon pilgrimage around the British Landscape Zodiac, we are in Aries which lies in the western segment from the centre at High Cross to the mid-west of Wales and here lies the little island of Ynys Enlli or Bardsey Island. This small and peaceful island may well be the most sacred place in Wales.

Known as the Island of 20,000 saints reputedly buried there, it has attracted thousands of pilgrims over 1,500 years since St Cadfan founded a Christian community on this small island. Pilgrimages to the island peaked in the Middle Ages where it was said that three pilgrimages to Bardsey equalled one to Rome and that those buried on the island wouldn’t go to hell! The island remains an attraction for pilgrims, marking the end point of the North Wales Pilgrims Way.

Astrologer Pam Gregory says; “This full supermoon in Aries is shining a light on our courage and our sovereignty” and Charlotte expands on this theme here: FULL MOON MEDITATION LIBRA

A GATEKEEPER EVENT FOR SAMHAIN

Light in the Land – Samhain 2025
Sunday 2 November
Local Attunement – Light in the Landscape

We would love you to be part of a special event that we are organising - a 15 minute attunement from wherever you live, so that together we create a network of light across the land. On Sunday 2nd November we will make our way (individually or together as we feel appropriate) to our own special location to tune in collectively at 12 noon UK. We intend that those of us gathered will share in a simple ritual which will unite us all. After the gathering together everyone can continue as they feel
appropriate, whether with words or chant or song or a pilgrimage or a picnic!
Information and guidelines for the simple ceremony are here: https://gatekeeper.org.uk/events/light-inthe-land-samhain-2025/

Autumn-Winter Quarterday - Samhain.

© Peter Dawkins

Peter Dawkins tells us that “The autumn-winter quarter day marks the cusp of autumn and winter, when autumn ends and winter begins. In Celtic countries this festival is known as Samhain (‘Fire of Assembly’). It is the Festival of the Dead or Festival of Peace, and the fires for this festival are peace fires lit in thanksgiving, not only for the harvest (which has now finished), but also for the whole year, and for all friends, family and ancestors, and for the Sun-god, Hu or Ies-Hu, who dies at this time. It is the third and last of the three harvest festivals, and marks the completion of the year's work, and the start of a time of rest or peace leading up to the birth of the new year and Sun-god at the winter solstice.”

THE GATEKEEPER TRUST CONFERENCE

23RD NOVEMBER 2025, 2PM-5.30PM
SACRED SPACE

Gatekeeper Trust are very pleased to announce our 5th online conference on the theme of Sacred Space. We have invited six speakers to share their thoughts on the meaning of “Sacred Space” – a much-used term invariably meaning different things to different people. The 6 talks and discussion cover what the term means to them and how they seek out, create, nurture and experience sacred space- this includes built structures, man-made landscapes, natural landscapes and water.
We are very pleased to give further details of the speakers and their subject below.

Tom Bree: As Above so Below
Tom is an internationally renowned Geometer who has been practising and teaching sacred geometry for over 25 years. In this talk he reflects on how heavenly geometry is reflected in the design of cathedrals and other buildings. He uses the Lady Chapel at Wells Cathedral to illustrate the heavenly geometry of the Morning Star/planet Venus which are embedded in the design of the cathedral. The Moon is also present in the cathedral's design.

Peter Dawkins: A Discussion
A recorded discussion with Peter Dawkins around human intervention in the landscape and the creation of space which is loved and which, by extension, becomes sacred. We will look at ancient intervention by the creation of stone circles and mounds through to the current era, using examples which Peter has engaged with over the years. These include Jupiter Artland, Dream at Sutton Manor and latterly Tout Quarry on Portland. This has been part of Gatekeeper’s collaboration with the Portland Quarry and Sculpture Trust. https://www.peterdawkins.com/profile/

Caroline Hoare: Bosley Cloud- Sacred Energy Centre of Britain
Caroline Hoare is well known to Gatekeeper Trust members, having spoken at conferences over a number of years alongside Gary Biltcliffe. Bosley Cloud is a very special hill in North Staffordshire which features in their book The Spine of Albion and which has drawn them to the area on many occasions. Latest research serves to demonstrate the importance of this site as a sacred energy centre. https://belinusline.com/aboutus.php

Sarah Dawkins: Sacred Iona
Sarah Dawkins is a founding member of Gatekeeper Trust and with Peter has been in Iona many times over the last 40 years, leading pilgrimages and retreats and as private visitors. Sarah will share her experiences over the years that show Iona as a truly sacred space. https://www.zoence.co.uk/sarah-dawkins/

Claire Heron: Water - The Sacred Gift
Claire has a lifelong connection with water since early childhood when she was brought up on a farm fed by spring water. She now lives close to two springs at the watershed between the rivers Lune and Eden which encircle the Lake District. She invites us to consider the way we relate to water as it journeys through our own body and into the wider external environment. She will be looking along the way at sacred wells and springs as a source to be honoured and cherished.

Richard Creightmore: Honouring the Earth Energies of Sacred Space
Richard has been a professional geomancer since 1986 and is a leading author and teacher of Earth Acupuncture for resolving geopathic stress. He has helped to situate and build sacred spaces such as stone circles and labyrinths and he also secures and enhances the earth energies of those and other spaces where he works as a consultant geomancer.

PORTLAND VISIT- END SEPTEMBER 2025

Disappointingly the proposal for a procession on 1st November was not selected for funding this year. Instead, an event is being planned for 2026 which will reveal the carved Gatekeeper Stone and unveil the Brunsden geomorphology stone in partnership with Dorset Coast Forum who are funding the carved lettering celebrating the World Heritage Coast.

Dorset Council is match-funding the Gatekeeper Trust’s contribution to create an outdoor learning space adjacent to the Gatekeeper Stone, making this an important portal into the quarry landscape and the green corridor descending through time. This will encourage visitors to spend time here to learn from and be inspired by the land and its deep wisdom.

The carving of the Gatekeeper butterfly onto the Gatekeeper Stone has commenced and Hannah Sofaer and the Portland Sculpture & Quarry Trust will complete this carving during October. The butterfly is settled on the edge of the stone, facing the rising sun, waiting to take flight.

Angela Shaw – Gatekeeper Trustee

Soil, Soul and Society: Satish Kumar — peace activist, environmentalist, and former Jain monk — has walked thousands of miles in the name of peace, ecology, and spiritual connection. Known for his 8,000-mile peace walk from India to America, his teachings at Schumacher College, and through Resurgence, his advocacy for “soil, soul, and society,”
Satish is a voice of wisdom for our times. In this conversation with British Pilgrimage Trust co-founder Guy Hayward, he reflects on the role of pilgrimage in his life, its philosophical underpinnings, and its power to transform our relationship with the earth and each other.
