Britain's oldest and most controversial antiquity is literally as old as the hills that form the figures and the streams that help to define them. Though basically natural, it was completed with tracks, canal and earthworks by early man.

A vast circle 10 miles across, this Star-Temple has a guard-dog, his underside outlined by the river Parret, 5 miles long.

Too big to be seen!  Too good to be true? Yet the map shows its effigies clearly, while 100 significant place-names and many local legends attest them, like Wagg on the Dog's tail. The Zodiac stars also fit their effigies when the planisphere is scaled to the map.  Chance? The odds against this are 79 million to 1.
